Prof Lizahn Cloete is head of division in the Division of Occupational Therapy at Stellenbosch University. She has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and co-authored a number of book chapters. She coordinates postgraduate research at departmental level. Her practice and research focus on creating supportive environments for women and children affected by prenatal alcohol exposure. She engages with communities of practice in education, social development and non-governmental -sectors. She specialises in capacity appreciation and capacity extension of vulnerable groups, and takes particular interest in research on decolonising undergraduate and postgraduate curricula in higher education. She has extensive teaching experience in relational ethics, professionalism, management and quality assurance and policy implementation in occupational therapy.​
